I lived in that street
La rue où nous habitions...
Actually, Saint Leonard is a very nice little town. My parents rented a flat in the house of a dyer. I have very few memories of that time, as I was there from birth to age three and half. I just remember putting a little green plastic basket on the cast iron hot stove top. My basket melted almost immediately. I still see it melting "above" (I could not really see the top of the stove). It started fuming and stinking. I was quite sorry. I also remember my Mom all upset when I unearthed and started grawing at one of the big bones the owner's dog had hidden in the garden. My Mom was a nurse and was sterilizing all my milk bottles. The bone was not up to her standards. Since I did not die in the following days she became more philosophical about hygiene and kids. Finally I remember my sister in her "yupala" (a sort strolling cage with 4 legs and wheels in the middle of which she could stand and learn to walk). She is a year and half younger than me, and she was using that thing as a tank to run and bump hard into anything or anyone in her way. I was scared of her.
